Plans & credits

What does 'pooled' mean?
Credits pool at the organisation level, not per user. If you have 5 seats on Fathom Pro, your whole team shares 75 vessel screens and 25 company reports each month. Any team member can use any credit. This gives you flexibility — one person can run 20 screens while a colleague uses 5, without anyone being blocked.
What's included in a Vessel Screen?
Everything. One screen gives you the full picture for a single vessel (by IMO number): 9-factor risk score with sub-score breakdown, sanctions screening across 24 lists and 22 jurisdictions, PEP checks, ownership chain (up to 7 layers), PSC inspection history, CII/ESG ratings, AIS anomalies, adverse media, Entity Rating, and an AI-generated explanation. Revisits to the same vessel within your billing month are free on the portal.
What's a Company Report?
A full due diligence report on a maritime entity: Entity Rating (AAA to D), fleet risk aggregation, company valuation, beneficial ownership chain, adverse media screening, and regulatory compliance status. Uses a separate credit pool from vessel screens.
What happens when my credits run out?
You can purchase additional screens and reports at your tier's rate. On Free, one-off screens are £99 and reports £150. On paid plans, rates drop significantly (e.g. £90/screen on Fathom Starter, £60/screen on Fathom Scale). Org admins can set a monthly overage spending cap to stay in control.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Credits reset on your billing cycle date each month. This keeps pricing simple and predictable. If you regularly use more than your allowance, upgrading to a higher tier is more cost-effective than buying overages.
Is there a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 14-day free trial. No credit card required to start. The Free tier is available indefinitely with 1 Vessel Screen per month and full access to every feature.

API & integrations

How does API pricing work?
Each paid tier includes a monthly API spend allowance (e.g. £15/seat on Fathom Starter, £100/seat on Fathom Scale). API calls are priced in four bands from £0.75 to £150 per call, depending on the endpoint. Your allowance is consumed first; once it's used up, calls are billed at the same per-call rate. Volume discounts apply from £200/month. The Free tier does not include API access.
What counts as an API call?
Each request to a REST, GraphQL, or MCP endpoint counts as one call. Batch requests (e.g. screening 10 vessels) count as one call per vessel. Webhooks delivered to your system do not count. Authentication, health checks, and metadata endpoints are free.
What are the rate limits?
Rate limits scale with your tier: Fathom Starter gets 30 requests/minute, Fathom Pro gets 60/min, Fathom Scale gets 120/min, and Enterprise gets 300/min. If you hit the limit you'll receive an HTTP 429 response with a Retry-After header. The Free tier has no API access.

Exchange

What is the Exchange?
The Exchange is a marketplace of peer-reviewed maritime valuation and analytics models built by academics and industry experts. Each model run costs £200 (or equivalent in your currency) and is available on all tiers including Free. Revenue is shared 50/50 with the model author.

Billing & payments

Can I change plan mid-month?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing — you only pay for the remaining days at the new rate. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period so you keep your current allowance for the rest of the month.
What currencies do you support?
GBP, USD, EUR, SGD, and JPY. Prices are fixed per currency (not live FX). You choose your currency at checkout and all invoices are in that currency. You can switch currency when changing plan.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and SEPA Direct Debit via Stripe. Annual billing (20% off) is available on all paid plans. Enterprise customers can pay by bank transfer with net 30 terms.
